This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Response Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
